silver contact-ag or ag alloy claded with other cheaper alloy, called bimetal or noble and base clad metal. noble metal refers to those metal with high value,like silver,silver alloy or gold;base metal refers to those with low value,like copper,iron,alluminium ect.noble metal's value is very high which leads to the high cost of the product. to reduce the cost, noble and base metal was developed. for the working area, still use the noble metal, but for the base area, use base metal.in this way, the cost is greatly down. however, the noble metal's melting point is very different from base metal, when produced, requires high quality bonding technology.
